If you’re looking for something more intimate and personal at the Fringe, Animal Love may be just the ticket.
This solo show from California performer Annette Roman has much to recommend it. Roman is a skillful storyteller with plenty of wit and warmth à la Nora Ephron. “Linoleum is the Waterloo of pets,” she observes. Her script is economical and never maudlin. Just don’t let the title fool you. While Roman begins by recalling the animals in her life, she gradually shifts focus to the people.
Ultimately this is the story of familial love and loss, told with quiet humour and grace.
